The D-Link DHP-100 is a plug-and-play Ethernet-to-Powerline Bridge providing a convenient way to extend the range of a wireless access point or router. It is especially useful for homes or small offices when concrete walls, elevator shafts, successive floors in multi-storied buildings, or other architectural impediments inhibit the wireless signal. By taking advantage of the existing electrical wiring in a home or small office, two or more D-Link DHP-100s can extend a wireless access point or router's range without drilling holes into walls to run additional networking cables. The D-Link DHP-100 is fully compliant with HomePlug PowerLine Alliance Industry Specification v1.0, assuring that it will link with other powerline devices. The DHP-100 transmits data reliably even in noisy media environments by intelligently adapting to strong signal channels. This Ethernet-to-Powerline Bridge uses proven Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), an advanced signal processing technique used by wireless and xDSL applications to ensure strong signal throughput while filtering out interference. The DHP-100 also integrates Quality-of-Service (QoS) features such as prioritized random access, contention-free access, and segmentbursting. It also includes built-in 56-bit Link encryption with key management for more secure communication and data transfer. The D-Link DHP-100 is operating system independent, so it works with any standard Ethernet-ready computer system.
