The VL-AH60U Sharp Viewcam not only records in the high-band 8mm format but also has Dual Picture Effects so you can add picture-in-pictures images to your videos. Pretty cool.Hi8 video is comparable to the competing S-VHS format in case you're doing a side-by-side shopping jaunt. The VL-AH60U has a 16x optical zoom that can be boosted digitally to 400x. Since it's a Viewcam, there is only one LCD screen; in this case it's 3.5-inches. The camcorder has digital image stabilization to take the shakes out of handheld videos. Sharp claims the new Digital Gamma Brightness Compensation circuit is more intelligent than standard Backlight Compensation. Other features include six digital picture effects and two fade modes to help nurture your inner Hollywood director. There are on-screen displays to easily monitor the camcorder's status, title/character sets and it comes with a high-capacity Ni-MH battery.
