Denon's DCM 270 is the company's least expensive CD changer to date. They've shaved $100 off its predecessor's list price to compete with the rock-bottom prices found in today's market. Given Denon's excellent reputation for mid-fi quality and value, this changer looks like an excellent deal. The 270 is the little brother to the DCM-370, without the higher-end features like HDCD decoding and the high-quality D/A converter required for it. You'll also be missing a digital output, so if you do much digital recording you may want to check out similarly equipped CD players instead.This Denon does everything you want a changer to do -- and nothing more. You can change all four discs while another spins. The carousel rotates in both directions to shorten the seemingly infinite wait between discs. Shuffle mode has the ability to never repeat a track until all others have been heard at least once.Also on board are the standard transport functions, such as disc or global programming, multi-mode repeat and direct track access from the remote.
