"Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas" (06/20/2000) Children's Original Soundtrack, Walt DisneyPersonnel includes: Paige O'Hara (vocals); Judy Blazer, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Bill Cantos, Victoria Clark, Kevin Dorsey, Gregg Edelman, Judy Kaye, Rebecca Luker, Howard McGillin, Gene Miller, Lauren Mitchell, Bobbi Page, Wilbur Pauley, Andrea Robinson, Sharon Scruggs, Ted Sperling, Carmen Twillie, Martin Vidnovic, Maxine Waters, Oren Waters (background vocals); Andrew Keenan Bolger, Tim Curry, Angela Lansbury, Jerry Orbach, Bernadette Peters, David Ogden Stiers, Peabo Bryson, Roberta Flack. Producers include: Robbie Buchanan, Paul Schwartz. Engineers include: Michael Becker. Personnel includes: Paige O'Hara (vocals); Judy Blazer, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Bill Cantos, Victoria Clark, Kevin Dorsey, Gregg Edelman, Judy Kaye, Rebecca Luker, Howard McGillin, Gene Miller, Lauren Mitchell, Bobbi Page, Wilbur Pauley, Andrea Robinson, Sharon Scruggs, Ted Sperling, Carmen Twillie, Martin Vidnovic, Maxine Waters, Oren Waters (background vocals); Andrew Keenan Bolger, Tim Curry, Angela Lansbury, Jerry Orbach, Bernadette Peters, David Ogden Stiers, Peabo Bryson, Roberta Flack. Producers include: Robbie Buchanan, Paul Schwartz. Engineers include: Michael Becker. This collection of holiday songs and originals from the second Beauty and the Beast movie by Disney hits all the right notes. The traditional "Deck the Halls," "O Christmas Tree," "What Child Is This" are as delightful and enjoyable as if they were new. Those songs that are new fit right in. Paige O'Hara is the star here, her Belle sweet, pure and clear. But the rest of the vocal cast is more than up to the task, with Bernadette Peters and a sly Tim Curry joining Angela Lansbury, Jerry Orbach and David Ogden Stiers. The interplay between Orbach's Lumiere and Stiers as Cogsworth alone is worth the price of the disc. Add the Christmas magic, and the new songs as a bonus, and you've got a wonderful record for kids and parents both. ~ Ross Boissoneau

"Disneymania Presents: Wow! Christmas" (12/07/2004) Children's Various Artists, Walt DisneyFew things could be more symbolic of the joys of childhood than the faithful anticipation of Christmas, beginning somewhere between the final taste of Halloween candy and Santa's sleigh's arrival in New York City's Herald Square. Disney's airwave arm, Radio Disney, has popped up in cities around the world, renovating pop radio with a youthful eye, and RADIO DISNEY: JINGLE JAMS perfectly matches the mostly teenage and younger artists predominant on the station with a selection of songs of the season, some old, some new. Hilary Duff and Stacie Orrico try their hand at standards "Santa Claus Lane" and "White Christmas," respectively. Others like Ashlee Simpson and Skye Sweetnam opt for a more modern representation of Christmas, with the latter's "Why Doesn't Santa Like Me?" being a particularly endearing, earnest number. All the tracks on JINGLE JAMS glimmer with the sheen of Disney production, as the disc offers a host of fun for the holidays. The 2005 edition of RADIO DISNEY JINGLE JAMS overlaps somewhat with the previous year's collection (see the energetic remix of Hilary Duff's "Santa Claus Lane" and Ashlee Simpson's rocked-out "Christmas Past, Present and Future"). However, it does offer five new Yuletide-themed tracks, most notably B5's R&B-tinged "Someday at Christmas" and the Beu Sisters' charming, breezy "Home for Christmas," resulting in a fun holiday album that is suitable for the whole family.
