"Worship for Teens" (08/06/2002) Gospel Various Artists, Brentwood RecordsThe powers that be at Brentwood Records made a wise choice on this teen portion of their series, which also has worship CDs aimed at men, women, and kids. Don Marsh produced those fairly bland efforts, and Steven V. Taylor was tapped to helm this much more listenable and energetic project. There are a few colorless moments ("Nothin'"), but these are well redeemed by feisty, guitar-driven rock versions of "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" and "I Want to Know You." The vocal choir is also slightly more listenable than those on the other discs. The production seems a bit more involved and costly, too; maybe the company figured that teens have all the expendable worship CD cash, so put extra effort into making the one targeted at them a better deal. Either way, a positive experience. ~ Jonathan Widran
