With a capacity of 2.36 ounces, this sleek machine employs stainless-steel blades to grind enough coffee beans for brewing up to twelve 5-ounce cups of percolator, drip, or espresso coffee. The grinder can be filled with beans and the amount of beans it grinds can be selected with a dial that's calibrated by number of cups desired: 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12. During operation, lights above the on/off button flash on the grind selector, indicating when the grind is coarse, medium, or fine, permitting the grinder to be shut off when the desired grind is achieved. The grind selector displays the words "coarse," "medium," and "fine" along with the brewing method appropriate for each grind: respectively, "perc" (percolator), "drip," and "espresso." Clad in gleaming black plastic with matte silver accents, the hourglass-shaped grinder is thoroughly contemporary in appearance and has a rubberized grip and push-in cord storage. Rubberized feet prevent it from slipping during operation. It carries a one-year warranty against defects.

Experience the uniform, precision grind of a burr coffee grinder and you'll never go back to the blade style. The burrs act in a similar fashion to grindstones, one on top of the other, and the closer they're set together, the finer the grind. Also, burrs emit less heat than blades, and heat can negatively affect the taste of coffee. Elegant and nicely weighted, this 85-watt, retro-look grinder with rubber feet sits securely on the counter and grinds beans without the slightest hassle. To use, simply put the beans in the top container, twist it to set it at one of eight settings from extra fine to coarse, then turn the timer dial. If you need enough ground coffee for a twelve-cup pot of coffee, that’s exactly how much will be ground. A chart on the lower grind-collecting container specifies how long to set the timer for the amount required. The lower container with its tight-fitting lid pulls off the machine so the ground coffee can be shaken out or kept inside for storage. The top container unscrews for cleaning by hand. Measuring 11-1/2 by 6-1/2 by 4-1/4 when assembled, the grinder stores even more compactly when the two containers are removed. For safety, the grinder will stop or simply not start if parts are not connected properly. Because a short cord is safer, the three-foot cord pulls out of the base to just the length you need, and retracts when a dial on the bottom of the grinder is turned. DeLonghi includes a plastic coffee measuring spoon and warranties the grinder for one year.

Grind as little or as much coffee as you need with this deluxe coffee grinder. Only need a couple of tablespoons? Place 2 tablespoons of coffee beans in the top bin, choose your type of grind--extra-fine for espresso, fine or medium for drip coffee, or coarse for percolator or press--and switch the timer to the number 2. Your coffee beans will be ground to your exact specifications and deposited into a bin below with tablespoon amounts printed on the side. You can grind as little as 2 tablespoons or as much as 24 tablespoons at one time. Just pull the bottom bin straight out, remove the lid, and dump the ground coffee into your coffee or espresso maker. To clean, hand wash the removable bin and wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
