When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982. It was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord which they, by coincidence, produced as well. We combined the skills of these Normandy craftsmen with modern production, and the price became affordable to the many people who loved the taste of the coffee brewed in this unique coffee maker, later known as the French press coffee brewer. Thanks to Bodum and thanks to the increasing need for better coffee, the French press coffee maker became one of the most popular coffeemakers in the world. The design has not changed a bit from the original drawings, and they still make the Chambord with the same painstaking care and knowledge we learned from those proud craftsmen in windy Normandy. The delicious smell and taste of French roasted dark coffee and the ease of brewing have not changed: coffee, water, press, enjoy. New: The Chambord now comes with an unbreakable polycarbonate beaker.

A double-wall French press coffee maker, for those who want to share a delicious cup of coffee with friends and for those who already know that when you have tasted good coffee brewed in a French press there is no going back. The coffee maker is made from two layers of heat resistant borosilicate (laboratory) glass, which keeps the coffee hot and aromatic for a longer period of time (up to two hours). A stainless steel safety lid prevents the squirting of liquids when the plunger is depressed. The press has a black, stay-cool, non-slip rubber handle.To make gourmet coffee quickly and easily, place 1 tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee beans per cup in the carafe. Add boiling water and stir with a non-metallic spoon. Let steep for four minutes. Press plunger down slowly to filter the coffee. Pour and enjoy!

The glass beaker can easily be removed for cleaning and placement in the dishwasher. For those who prefer to hand-wash their Young Press, they don't need to worry as much about knocking the glass beaker against a metal sink. The Young Press' frame also assists in keeping the coffee hot longer while insuring that the body of the press remains cool to the touch and is safe to set on most surfaces. Should the glass beaker break, it is easily replaced with the the standard Bodum 8-Cup Replacement Glass. The Young Press brews 8 - 4oz. cups of coffee or 1.0 litter / 34 oz. This size is ideal for serving 2 - 3 people.For best results, use coarse ground coffee. Just add the appropriate amount of ground coffee to the beaker (we recommend one 7 gram scoop per 4 oz. of water). Fill the beaker with hot water (just off of a boil).
