To qualify for the award, retailers had to be a BizRate Customer Certified Merchant and represent the top five percent of completed surveys, in terms of volume, from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004. Online buyers complete the surveys at the point of sale and after delivery of goods in order to accurately measure the in-store shopping experience and to monitor the store's post-transaction fulfillment performance. Demonstrating year round consistency in providing superior customer satisfaction, a handful of e-tailers are consecutive winners for five and four years. Circle of Excellence Methodology In order to win a "Circle of Excellence" Platinum award, BizRate.com e-tailers demonstrated outstanding performance from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004, and achieved a performance rating above the industry average on all seven aforementioned service metrics. For robust statistical significance, satisfaction ratings are based on retailers being a BizRate.com Certified Merchant and representing the top five percent of completed surveys in terms of volume from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004.
