I purchased my Nikon D60 from ritzcamera.com for about $670. That includes the body, 18-55mm VR lens, 55-200mm VR lens, Nikon camera bag, and 2 Nikon instructional DVDs. Tip: if you have the Entertainment coupon book, they give you a 5% discount at ritzcamera.com. Bank of America now also has an Add It Up program that gives you 3%(?) discount if you use your debit card. Unfortunately, ritzcame...
It's not top of the line in features. But the Nikon D60 gets you to up to speed fairly quickly to get beautiful pictures without the pain of a steep learning curve on the camera and on photography. Out of the box, you get beautiful skin tones, crisp landscapes and detailed macro shots. Bottom line, it doesn't get in your way when you want to enjoy the beauty around and capture them in pictures.
A great digital SLR for the money! It handles easily, controls are well-placed and quickly learnable. I highly recommend the Nikon D60 for someone wanting pro-quality but doesn't need a $1K plus camera.
