Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Review summary of Nikon D60 Digital SLR with 18-55mm AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens

The camera has exceeded my expectations; the two lenses should cover just about any situation I wish to capture. The camera quality appears to be up to Nikon's reputation. The two DVD tutorial disks will be helpful to a beginner. One aspect is the complexity of the numerous modes; this will take some time for even an experienced photographer to master. A beginner without an understanding of basic photography will probably never use a tenth of the cameras capabilities. Overall, a great camera that will last the rest of my life.

If the new D60 looks familiar, there's a simple explanation. Hold the old D40X model in one hand and this camera in the other, and aside from the silver model-name badge you'll struggle to tell the difference.

While I haven't had a chance to use the camera a lot, I like what I have done. Photos even using the fully automatic mode come out crystal clear. Other settings give you great versitility. The camera feels very very well built and I like the fact that it is a little heavier than other simular cameras. So far I haven't found anything I don't like. I plan to use it mostly for macro, landscape and family photography.

The D300 takes some getting used to as you have to make a number of decisions about settings that lesser cameras make for you but that is the fun & challenge of working with it. You can set up programs with different settings for different types of settings (landscape, portraits, etc.) as well as a personal menu for settings you change regularly so you don't have to sort through the other menues.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Review summary of Nikon D40x Digital SLR with 18-55mm and 55-200mm Lenses

The range of the two lenses gives the ability to take anything from wide-angle to telephoto. I charged the battery (90 minutes) when it arrived and haven't had to recharge it, although I have used it just about every day. It has some features that I will need to sit down and figure out with the manual, but it works well right from the start in 'auto'. I belong to a couple of Flickr.com groups, and I am using the camera to take photos to upload.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars Review summary of Nikon D80 Digital SLR with 18-55mm Lens

Nikon D80 camera is great for both point-and-shooting amateurs and entry-level pros. It is very easy to handle and use. Even after I discovered a few dead pixels in the sensor (I think this is inevitable), I still consider Nikon D80 is the best camera for entry-level photographer. BTW I have sent the camera body to Nikon Service to fix the dead pixel. Hope it will be all OK after all.

Used for 9 months. Out of 100's of shots and every setting you could try I could not consistently get a decent picture. Used tripod, remote switch, you name it I tried it. Focus and metering terrible. Not for the beginner for sure! Used the 18-200 VR
