In the three years we've owned the Fisher & Paykel dish drawers, they have broken down three times: first
because the valve was oriented wrong (we did not have a professional installation -- our contractor installed),
second because the drain valve was clogged (repairperson said nothing we could have done to prevent), and the
third time the lid broke and so the bottom drawer jammed, possibly because something touched the "ceiling" of
the drawer during a cycle. If we end up paying for this third repair (~$500), the total costs of repairs we've
spent on the dish drawers will have been around $670. If you only wash teacups and saucers that you've
thoroughly rinsed beforehand, this is possibly the gadget for you, but if you're a normal family (like us), I would
avoid the dish drawers at all costs...at least until Fisher & Paykel figure out how to make more sturdy and user-
friendly. I do own a washer and dryer by Fisher & Paykel (for a bit longer time) and have had no complaints

I'm not sure if I have a bum appliance, or if this is just a really lousy dishwasher. Either way, I'm not happy. The water does not get hot - Whirlpool's response 1. It's the EPA's fault, dishwashers can only heat water for 20 minutes now. 2. Turn your hot water heater up to scald (140+), then teach your toddlers to be careful. 3. Insulate your pipes (we did that, it didn't help). We tried raising the hot water tank temp, and it didn't help either. The soap dispenser does not open reliably, when it does, the detergent doesn't dissolve. The dishes just don't get clean. I've called Whirlpool 3 times. They've sent someone out who gave me a diseration on training my toddlers to use really hot water and about using powdered detergent only. Whirlpool says you cannot use the pre-measured pressurized packs - no surprise they blame Electrosol and Cascade for "over pressurizing." I tried liquid and powder - still doesn't dissolve and the soap dispenser doesn't open reliably, so my dishes don't get... (See all reviews)

Decided to wait until we had owned the diswasher for a lengthy period of time before writing a review, to be sure the first impressions were lasting ones. We purchased our Bosch at Lowes, and it was installed within a couple days by 2 very efficient installers. They, in fact, commented at how much they liked to install Bosch dishwashers because of how much easier they are to install due to the type of insulation Bosch uses over other makes. Which takes me to the next subject; how quiet this dishwasher is. I swear, you sometimes have to stop and listen to be sure it's running. I don't think you can find a quieter unit. Some of the reviews I read before purchasing the Bosch complained that the dishes weren't completely dry when the cycle is complete. We have never had this problem. Bosch emphasises the importance of using a rinse agent, which we do, and the dishes are always dry. Plastics often will have droplets, but that's not unusual.
