It's got a 10-bit video DAC and an array of output jacks that include the component terminals preferred by some home theater buffs. This model also has pass-through for Dolby Digital (DD) and DTS but no built-in decoders or six-channel analog output. Therefore, if you want to hear full 5.1-channel surround sound, the player must be paired with either a standalone outboard decoder or an A/V receiver equipped with the necessary circuitry.For an extra $100, the image-conscious can step up to the DVD-C900GL. Its innards are identical to those of the C900, but it boasts an elegant gold-amber finish and walnut end panels.
