Set in New York City, this compelling drama about a young graffiti artist highlights the risky--sometimes life-threatening--nature of such a pursuit. Director Adam Bhala Lough casts the talented young actor Mark Webber (DEAR WENDY) as Blest, a graffiti artist the NYPD is desperate to catch. Blest roams the New York streets, spraying graffiti wherever he can and dodging angry shop owners as he steals spray paint from hardware stores. The art world tugs at Blest's sleeve as he slowly makes a name for himself, with several galleries interested in displaying his work, but he has more pressing concerns as one of his gang, Lune (Jade Yorker), winds up in jail. Discovering Lune has been badly beaten by the cops, Blest instructs his gang to cover the city with graffiti, starting a deadly running battle with the cops. A movie that highlights how difficult it is for many youngsters to escape the impoverished backgrounds they grew up in, Lough's film is also an interesting look at graffiti culture and the talented characters who love to decorate New York with their work.

Lil Wayne (aka Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) began his career in music when he was a teenager. At 18, he became part of the "Dirty South" rap music family at Cash Money Records, but in time he matured into one of the most idiosyncratic and original voices in hip hop, and earned a new degree of critical respect with his 2004 THA CARTER as well as his many mixtapes. In 2008, Lil Wayne confirmed his status as rap's star of the moment when his album THA CARTER III sold over a million copies in its first week of release. That same year, Lil Wayne granted filmmaker Adam Bhala Lough full access as he hit the road for a concert tour, and THE CARTER is a revealing behind-the-scenes documentary which follows the rapper as he travels from town to town, discusses his music with journalists, talks frankly about his life and career, indulges in his passion for marijuana and codeine cough syrup, and constantly puts down new musical ideas on the portable recording rig that's his constant companion. THE CARTER received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival as part of the "Park City At Midnight" series.

With a trip-hop bass line thumping throughout, and color-saturated, blurred-out, overproduced street cinematography matching the cool beats, BOMB THE SYSTEM plays like a feature-length music video. A cyclical story of New York City graffiti artists coming up on the streets, running from corrupt cops, and eventually meeting a grim fate, BOMB THE SYSTEM finds its inspiration in style, not in a feel-good fairy tale. If anything, the story shows how the lifestyle of the artists is bittersweet. They bounce from parties to clubs to back alleyways, making love and taking drugs, enjoying their freedom but lacking hope for the future. "Blest" is what the young protagonist, Anthony (Mark Webber), writes when he goes out to paint the town with his crew. And so he seems, when he falls in love with a beautiful girl (Jaclyn Desantis) and is accepted to an art school in California. But when trouble comes, he must decide if he can break his ties to this underground world of graffiti art in pursuit of a more promising life, or if he's already in too deep. Adam Bhala Lough makes his debut at 23 years of age, writing and directing this aesthetic ode to urban youth culture.
