Friends - The Complete Series Collection (40-Disc Set; Digipak; Back to Back) [DVD]
Description:
Every show shows from the hit series FRIENDS is included on this release, making it is a great way to watch the laughter, tears, marriage, divorce, birth, death, and other themes of the show as it unfolds. Like all good things, the adventures of Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) sadly came to an end with season 10 of the show, but these episodes stand as a fine testament to a timeless comedy classic that considerably brightened up the television schedules during its 10-year run.
The Good Girl (Widescreen/Full Frame) [DVD]
THE GOOD GIRL, directed by Miguel Arteta and written by Mike White, stars Jennifer Aniston as Justine, a sullen 30-year-old woman stuck in a dead-end job at the Retail Rodeo department store. In addition to her mind-numbing occupation, Justine also has to contend with her dim-witted husband, Phil (John C. Reilly), and his partner, Bubba (Tim Blake Nelson), who work as house painters when they aren't smoking pot and staring blankly at the television. Justine sees an opportunity for change, however, when she meets Holden (Jake Gyllenhaal), a fellow Retail Rodeo employee who is even more depressed than herself. The young Holden (who patterns himself after Holden Caulfield of J.D. Salinger's THE CATCHER IN THE RYE) and Justine soon begin a passionate secret affair, unaware that it may not be so secret after all. With THE GOOD GIRL, Arteta and White, the creators of the indie hit CHUCK & BUCK, have fashioned yet another oddly affecting comedy out of misery and obsession. Playing the polar opposite of the character she plays on the TV show FRIENDS, Aniston is outstanding as Justine, a melancholy wife torn between the temptation of an affair and loyalty to her husband. Gyllenhaal is excellent as Justine's angst-ridden younger beau, while Reilly plays her slacker spouse to perfection. Also notable in their supporting roles are Nelson, who portrays a scheming stoner; screenwriter White, who appears as Retail Rodeo's pious security guard; and Zooey Deschanel, who gleefully dispenses sarcasm as a customer-hating clerk. A delicate balance of dark humor and sincere emotion, THE GOOD GIRL stands out as an overachieving film about underachieving people.
The Good Girl is a very good movie. The chemistry between the actors are great. I just think everything about this movie is great.

SHE'S THE ONE: A pair of brothers (Edward Burns and Mike McGlone)--one a cabdriver, the other a Wall Street bigwig--try to work out the kinks in their relationships with their wives, their mistresses (at least one of them), their father, and, ultimately, each other. SHE'S THE ONE is a charming romantic comedy from the director of THE BROTHERS McMULLEN, with a soundtrack by Tom Petty. PICTURE PERFECT: A plucky, perky, Prada-clad junior ad executive (Jennifer Aniston) pulls out all the stops hoping to snag a coveted account, but what her superiors really want is a mature, settled employee. What she wants is the office Lothario, so she kills two birds with one stone, inventing a fiancé who will make him jealous, while increasing her credibility with her superiors. But the ruse backfires when our heroine starts to fall in love. OBJECT OF MY AFFECTION: Nina (Jennifer Aniston) is a young woman who falls for her new roommate George (Paul Rudd), who just wants to be friends. When Nina finds herself pregnant, she comes to the conclusion that she'd rather raise the child with George than with the father. Complications arise in this touching film adapted by Wendy Wasserstein from a novel by Stephen McCauley.

INTOLERABLE CRUELTY (2003), directed by the Coen brothers, pits George Clooney against Catherine Zeta-Jones in a darkly comic battle of the sexes. Rob Reiner's THE STORY OF US (1999) plays out in the bittersweet last days of a shaky marriage, watching as leads Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer struggle with the decision to separate. Office Space (Special Edition - Widescreen) [DVD]
This geeky 1999 office comedy starring Ron Livingston as a corporate Everyman instantly gained cult status for its unabashed caricatures of office personalities, and its theme of corporate sabotage. Peter Gibbons (Livingston) is a typical middle manager living a mundane life amid a gray maze of cubicles. Everything in his life reeks of mediocrity, from the mid-size car he drives to the chain restaurant, Chotchky's (read: TGI Friday's), where he eats lunch every day. Even his apartment, a cookie-cutter duplex with walls so thin that he can chat with his next-door neighborhood through the plaster, is totally lacking in personality. The company where he works is peppered with ambitionless drones who blindly comply with the condescending requests made of them by their Porsche-driving CEO (Gary Cole). Then one day, Gibbons snaps. As a team of experts is brought in to enact large-scale layoffs, Gibbons simply stops trying and adopts an attitude of total disinterest. That is, he's only interested in dating the blond waitress (Jennifer Anniston) at the local restaurant, and putting in place a devilish scheme for some corporate payback. OFFICE SPACE's writer-director Mike Judge (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD), scares up some A-list laughs with this film, while also making an excellent parody of corporate culture. Released just as the dot-com boom began to go bust, with massive trends in corporate downsizing on the horizon, it could not have been better timed. Thus, while viewers will delight in the absurdity of the ultimate office loser Milton (Stephen Root), they will also identify with some frighteningly realistic aspects of the film.

The penultimate season of FRIENDS saw the gang get up to their usual fun and antics, with a few character and plot developments thrown into the mix for good measure. With Rachel (Jennifer Anniston) becoming a mother and Monica (Courtney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) trying for a baby themselves, it's left up to Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), and Ross (David Schwimmer) to carry the traditional romantic shenanigans of the show...until some surprising revelations unfold in the final episode. The entire ninth season is collected here, which sees guest appearances coming thick and fast from actors such as Elliot Gould, Selma Blair, Jon Lovitz, Hank Azaria, Paul Rudd, and many others.

Marley & Me (3-Disc Set Bad Boy Edition; Checkpoint; Sensormatic; Widescr) [Blu-ray Disc]
The filmmakers behind THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA take on another bestseller in the family film MARLEY AND ME. Based on the hit memoir by John Grogan, MARLEY AND ME chronicles the relationship of John (Owen Wilson) and Jen (Jennifer Aniston) as they face the challenges of marriage and work to start a family. By their side is their beloved dog, Marley, who can chew through drywall, got kicked out of obedience school, and never met a leg he didn't like. The cute pup's antics come to signify the unexpected challenges that everyone faces in adulthood, and the film is ultimately a paean to unconditional love; others may see Marley as the "world's worst dog," but throughout it all, he proves to be the couple's most faithful friend. MARLEY AND ME plays like a modern day Norman Rockwell portrait with a little more bite, courtesy of the snark-friendly screenwriters and the title's wild mutt. The sets are sumptuous, with every shot lovingly lit to look like a Hallmark card. The winning lead performances help elevate the picture above its feel-good counterparts; Aniston is radiant and Wilson shows off sharp dramatic chops, giving some maturity to his loveable comedic persona. Alan Arkin gives a scene-stealing performance as Wilson's boss, and Kathleen Turner proves to be a great sport with her physically demanding cameo as Marley's obedience instructor. But in the end the picture belongs to the dogs, and for once that's a good thing. A film that keeps the audience cooing, cracking up, and crying, MARLEY AND ME is sure to become a family favorite.

Friends With Money (Widescreen/Full Frame Edition) [DVD]
Nicole Holofcener's first two films, 1996's WALKING & TALKING and 2001's LOVELY & AMAZING, were intelligent looks at modern-day relationships between friends and family. Continuing her one-movie-every-five-years schedule, 2006's FRIENDS WITH MONEY follows that tradition of smart screenwriting, excellent acting, and careful direction. FRIENDS WITH MONEY focuses on four female friends examining their relationships with their significant others and themselves--and not always liking what they see. Frances McDormand stars as Jane, a successful dress designer who has taken to wild public outbursts, stops washing her hair, and is married to a kind man who might be gay (Simon McBurney). Joan Cusack is Franny, a multimillionaire who appears to have the perfect life with her husband (Greg Germann) and kids. Catherine Keener plays Christine, who is building her dream house and writing a screenplay with her husband (Jason Isaacs) as their life together is crumbling. And the youngest of the foursome, Olivia (Jennifer Aniston), is a pot-smoking ne'er-do-well who works as a maid, stalks her ex-lover, and has a thing about not paying for certain high-end cosmetics. As they prepare to attend a major fundraiser for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), they all take stock of their lives, reaching some very difficult conclusions. Holofcener has again created the kind of fascinating, complex characters, insightful and believable dialogue, and wholly realistic situations, crafting an adult look at life and love in the 21st century.
Rumor Has It [Blu-ray Disc]
With the romantic comedy RUMOR HAS IT, director Rob Reiner (WHEN HARRY MET SALLY) attempts the tricky task of creating a film based on an already celebrated classic, 1967's THE GRADUATE. Starring Dustin Hoffman and based on a novel by Charlie Webb, the original film revolved around the love triangle between a recent college-graduate, his girlfriend, and her famously seductive mother. Here, Reiner casts a chain-smoking Shirley MacLaine as the supposed real-life inspiration for Mrs. Robinson, and Jennifer Aniston as her granddaughter. Set for the most part within the gossipy community of Pasadena, California, the film follows Sarah Huttinger (Aniston) and her fiancé (Mark Ruffalo) as they travel home for her perky sister's (Mena Suvari) wedding. Having nothing in common with her family, Sarah is intrigued upon learning that she may actually be the secret love child of her deceased mother and Beau Borroughs (Kevin Costner), the man whose affairs with both Sarah's mother and grandmother supposedly inspired Charlie Webb, a classmate and friend of Beau, to write THE GRADUATE. From here, Sarah seeks out Beau, interested in him as a father-like figure and possibly more. Aniston brings a Rachel-like (FRIENDS) comic vibe to her character, frequently expressing her neuroses by talking to herself out loud in a sitcom-ish style. Costner is plenty capable in his role, but even with Beau's riches and charm, viewers may find it hard to understand why a young woman would embark on a romance with the same man who bedded her mother and grandmother. Reiner's script veers away from the classic romantic comedy formula by keeping Ruffalo's character at the sidelines. Rather, RUMOR HAS IT focuses on one woman's journey towards adulthood, self-realization, and acceptance of her origins via a path that while strange and potentially incestuous, seems to be family tradition.
Friends - The Complete Second Season
In addition to scoring one of the biggest surprise hits in television history, NBC generated a veritable pop culture phenomenon with its twentysomething sitcom smash FRIENDS. Set in New York City, the series chronicled the lives of six best friends as they navigated through the ups and downs of romance and career from the confines of their local coffee shop and some pretty fabulous Manhattan apartments. This collection includes every episode from the popular series' second season, which featured guest appearances by Elliott Gould, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chris Isaak, Julia Roberts, and Brooke Shields, whose performance secured her a sitcom of her own, SUDDENLY SUSAN.
If you are a "Friends" fan you have to own this. It will not only make you laugh but will be addicting, you will not want to stop watching it.

The Ben Stiller Collection [DVD]
Ben Stiller is featured in four of his funniest and most popular roles in THE BEN STILLER COLLECTION. In ALONG CAME POLLY Stiller reunites with director John Hamburg (who wrote ZOOLANDER and MEET THE PARENTS), starring as Reuben, an overanxious insurance risk analyst who weighs his every action by assessing pros and cons. He finds himself dumped on his honeymoon by fickle wife Lisa (Debra Messing). A few days later, Reuben is back in New York when along comes Polly Price (Jennifer Aniston), a quirky, worldly, adventurous soul who just might teach him to lighten up. Hamburg and Stiller first teamed up in MEET THE PARENTS, which pitted Stiller against acting powerhouse Robert De Niro. Before he can marry his fiancée Pam (Teri Polo), the unfortunately named Greg Focker (Stiller) must first win over her parents (De Niro and Blythe Danner). But a series of misunderstandings between the two soon becomes a nightmare for poor Greg. In the tradition of ANNIE HALL and FLIRTING WITH DISASTER, MEET THE PARENTS is an intelligent yet slapstick comedy about the eccentricities of the American family. Stiller plays wannabe superhero Mr. Furious in MYSTERY MEN, a slapstick parody of the genre. When Captain Amazing, chief superhero of Champion City, is kidnapped by insane supervillain Casanova Frankenstein, who will save the city and ensure that justice is served? Enter the Mystery Men: Mr. Furious, The Bowler, The Blue Raja, The Shoveler, The Spleen, The Sphinx, and the Invisible Boy--a group of misfits in possession of some bizarre superpowers, in this adaptation of the popular Dark Horse comic. Finally included is Stiller's directorial debut REALITY BITES, which is a distinct change of pace in tone as well as in Stiller's performance from the other films in the set. Winona Ryder stars as Lelaina Pierce, who, facing life after college, uses a video documentary about her confused and drifting friends to advance her ambitions in the entertainment industry. When a video executive (Stiller) becomes romantically interested in her, she is forced to choose between her slacker boyfriend (Ethan Hawke) and the big cruel world of adulthood lurking ahead. Each of the films in THE BEN STILLER COLLECTION displays Stiller's considerable comedic talents as well as his range and ability to create sympathetic characters.
Camp Cucamonga [DVD]
When former accountant Marvin Shector (John Ratzenberger) realizes his dream opening a sleep-away camp, he and his wife don't quite fathom exactly what they're getting into. Aside from the everyday chores, his first group of campers and counselors are going to test his patience with their endless pranks and mishaps. While "Colonel Marv" tries to keep things running smoothly, counselor Roger Burke (Brian Robbins) is doing his best to get to know the female counselors in the most intimate way possible, especially pretty Ava (Jennifer Aniston). But, as always, by the end of the summer, lasting friendships and romances will be forged.
Bruce Almighty [HD DVD]
Jim Carrey returns to his zany, manic roots in this Capraesque comedy from director Tom Shadyac (ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE and LIAR LIAR). Carrey stars as Bruce Nolan, a television reporter in Buffalo, New York who lives a normal life with his sweet girlfriend Grace (Jennifer Aniston). But Bruce isn't satisfied, and after a particularly bad day where everything goes wrong, he blames God. After spewing a tirade of curses God's way, God (Morgan Freeman in a gentlemanly white suit) responds and challenges Bruce to take over and see if he can run things better. Of course, there are some conditions; Bruce can only have the "almighty" powers for 24 hours and only in the Buffalo area. This doesn't stop Bruce, and he responds to his newfound powers with selfish, childlike zeal. Like a kid in a candy store, Bruce sets off making one hysterical, yet disastrous, decision after another. He pulls the moon closer to the earth so he can have a more romantic evening with Grace, unaware that his actions cause a tidal wave in Japan and responds to the prayers of the world with a mass-email "yes" that creates millions of lottery winners, riots, and mayhem. Ultimately, Bruce proves he is only human, and cannot possibly fill God's shoes, although he has a great time trying.
Friends - The Complete Eighth Season
In addition to scoring one of the biggest surprise hits in television history, NBC generated a veritable pop culture phenomenon with its twentysomething sitcom smash FRIENDS. Set in New York City, the series chronicled the lives of six best friends as they navigated through the ups and downs of romance and career from the confines of their local coffee shop, and some pretty fabulous Manhattan apartments. While the series originally rode to success on the coattails of its Thursday night predecessor SEINFELD, what differentiated FRIENDS from the rash of copycat sitcoms that followed--and made it a bona fide hit in its own right--was the unique chemistry of its fine ensemble cast: Courtney Cox as neurotic clean freak Monica; David Schwimmer as her endearingly hangdog brother Ross; Matt LeBlanc as none-too-bright actor-wannabe Joey Tribbiani; Matthew Perry as sarcastic computer programmer Chandler Bing; Lisa Kudrow as goofy new-age free spirit Phoebe Buffay; and, of course, Jennifer Aniston as reformed spoiled rich girl Rachel Green (whose highly influential fashion sense launched a thousand hairstyles). This collection includes every episode from the popular series' eighth season, which featured the birth of Ross and Rachel's baby and guest appearances by Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, Marlo Thomas, Elliot Gould and Morgan Fairchild.
Rumor Has It
The Break-Up (Widescreen Edition) [DVD]
Despite its seemingly classic date-movie setup, THE BREAK UP bucks romantic comedy tradition at almost every turn. Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) are a mismatched couple who meet, develop a seemingly contented relationship, and buy a beautiful condo together within the movie's first few minutes. Soon an all-too-believable fight triggers the title event, and they spend the rest of the movie alternately arguing and playing mind games as they battle over ownership of their beloved condo--and try to decide whether or not they really want this to be the end. In one of the movie's more dangerous yet courageous twists, neither Vaughn nor Aniston play especially likable characters. They never become unpleasant to watch, though, thanks largely to their formidable reservoirs of charisma. Vaughn is a master of the unkempt, immature, and hilarious everyman (OLD SCHOOL, THE WEDDING CRASHERS), while Aniston radiates bewildered decency, even in prickly roles (THE GOOD GIRL, FRIENDS WITH MONEY). Both of them are engaging presences, even when the movie veers away from comedy and into a kind of painful realism, as Gary and Brooke get caught up in a bitter and mean-spirited cycle of fighting that neither of them can win. The script's few weak patches are usually saved by the tremendous supporting cast, including ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT's Jason Bateman as the couple's realtor, Judy Davis as Brooke's boss, John Michael Higgins as her irrepressible, sexually ambiguous brother, and Jon Favreau as Gary's best friend, in scenes that effortlessly recapture some of the duo's SWINGERS chemistry. Peyton Reed, the director of the underrated DOWN WITH LOVE, isn't afraid to make his romantic comedy both unromantic and, occasionally, depressingly truthful, but thanks to the group of actors assembled here, watching a relationship unravel has rarely been more enjoyable.
Along Came Polly (Full Frame Edition) [DVD]
Writer-director John Hamburg (writer of ZOOLANDER and MEET THE PARENTS), teams once again with Ben Stiller to make an offbeat character study that is guaranteed to induce helpless laughter. Reuben, an overanxious insurance risk analyst (Stiller), weighs his every action by assessing pros and cons. He finds himself dumped on his honeymoon by fickle wife Lisa (Debra Messing) who runs off with Jacques, a nudist scuba instructor (Hank Azaria). A few days later, Reuben is back in New York at a pretentious gallery opening, wondering why he's bothering to test the waters so soon, when along comes Polly Price (Jennifer Aniston), a quirky, worldly, adventurous soul, whose only flaw appears to be a generalized lack of commitment. The formerly germ-obsessed, controlling Reuben is transformed by Polly's free spirit, her predilection for spicy food, and her pet ferret. Her love of salsa dancing makes him jealous and painfully uncomfortable. But his heart is aflame. Hamburg, who began his directorial career with SAFE MEN, has proven himself a reliable producer of charming realism and a brand of comedy comparable to that of the Farrelly brothers. Editor William Kerr has an extraordinary sense of comic timing, which gives ALONG CAME POLLY's funny factor a boost. Stiller's salsa solo is striking--the actor is actually an amazing dancer. Last but not least, Philip Seymour Hoffman (PUNCH DRUNK LOVE, FLAWLESS) nearly steals the show as Reuben's best friend Sandy Lyle who plays both Jesus and Judas in a community production of GODSPELL.
Along Came Polly/Reality Bites/Mystery Men (3-Disc Set) [DVD]
Ben Stiller's comic talent shines whether he is part of talented ensembles in REALITY BITES and MYSTERY MEN or when he takes the lead in ALONG CAME POLLY. See individual titles for synopsis information.
