Compaq drives undergo an intense qualification process that eliminates data integrity problems, firmware and O/S incompatibilities, and other causes of data corruption or premature failure. Compaq hard drives are specifically designed and tested for flawless operation in your Compaq equipment. By using a Compaq hard drive with your Compaq server, you prevent incompatibilities that can rob your system of performance or cause you to lose valuable data. The integration of hard drives in Compaq systems means that cables, SCSI ID settings, termination, hot-plug drive trays, and firmware are right for your Compaq server or storage system. Compaq's Wide Ultra SCSI hard drives are compatible with Compaq Fast/Wide and Wide Ultra SCSI controllers and can be combined with Fast/Wide SCSI drives on the same SCSI bus. Wide Ultra SCSI drives use the same cables and connectors as Fast/Wide drives. When used with Compaq's Smart array controllers and Insight Manager (click on the Accessories button on this page for more information on these products), the SMART-capable firmware in Compaq hard drives enables extensive fault prediction. If potential problems develop in the drive, Insight Manager lets you know in advance so you can have the drive replaced before it fails, under the Compaq Pre-Failure Warranty. This warranty ensures that when you are notified that a critical server component may fail, Compaq will replace the component. This drive features an industry-high 10,000RPM spindle speed which reduces seek and latency times and provides up to a 40% increase in drive performance beyond 7200RPM drives. It uses a compact 3-inch platter design which reduces seek times, lowers power requirements, and enhances performance. These lower power requirements have significantly reduced the operating temperature of the second generation 10,000RPM drives, which in turn results in increased reliability. All together these features create a drive that is ideal for transaction-intensive and performance-critical applications. This drive is hot-pluggable which allows you to install or remove it online. Compaq's holds its hot-pluggable hard drives to rigorous standards for both reliability and performance. These drives are intended for use in the most demanding, data-critical enterprise environments and are ideal for use in RAID applications. They are pre-mounted in the appropriate hot-swap tray for immediate installation into your Compaq server or storage system with no additional configuration required. Compaq covers all its hard drives with a one-year limited on-site warranty or the remaining warranty of the Compaq system in which they are installed for up to three years.
