100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong... [Box] by Bon Jovi (CD - 11/16/2004)
Description:
"100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong... [Box]" (11/16/2004) Heavy Metal Bon Jovi, Island Records (USA)This release includes a bonus DVD. Bon Jovi: Richie Sambora, Jon Bon Jovi (vocals, guitar); Hugh McDonald (bass guitar); Tico Torres (drums); Alec John Such. Additional personnel include: Dave Stewart , Eric Bazilian, Garo Yellin, Jerry Cohen, Joe Perry , Kenny Aronoff, Lance Quinn, Mark Hudson, Pino Palladino, Shawn Pelton, Kurt Johnston, Rick Valenti, Jeff Kazee, Carol Brooks, Bobby Bandiera. Liner Note Authors: Pierre Robert; Jon Bon Jovi. To commemorate both the band's two-decade mark in the music industry and the selling of 100 million records, Bon Jovi culled together this four-CD/one-DVD collection. An homage to Elvis Presley, both in the title and cover concept (with each group member wearing a gold lame outfit), this set pays tribute to Bon Jovi's fans, many of whose written testimonials are sprinkled throughout the accompanying photo-packed booklet. Jon Bon Jovi also contributes explanations of specific songs and his own thoughts about the band's 20-year journey. Most importantly, the 50 tracks that make up the audio portion of FANS reinforce how this New Jersey outfit has managed to survive in a fickle market for so long--a wealth of well-written tunes built on a foundation of great hooks, heartfelt sentiment, and well-honed musicianship. There's plenty to sift through here, including demos of much-loved favorites ("Someday I'll Be Saturday Night"), soundtrack contributions ("Edge of a Broken Heart") and solid international B-sides ("Ordinary People"). Most impressive is the above-average amount of previously unreleased fare (including lead-vocal performances from each band member). The DVD is filled with rare archival material, including interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, making the set essential for Bon Jovi's millions of fans.
This Left Feels Right: Greatest Hits With a Twist by Bon Jovi (Cassette - 11/04/2003)
"This Left Feels Right: Greatest Hits With a Twist" (11/04/2003) Heavy Metal Bon Jovi, Island Records (USA)Bon Jovi: Jon Bon Jovi (vocals); Richie Sambora (guitar, background vocals); David Bryan (keyboards); Tico Torres (drums, percussion). Additional personnel: Olivia d'Abo (vocals); Hugh McDonald (bass). Producers: Pat Leonard, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora. Includes liner notes by David Wild. Conceived during the Japanese leg of the BOUNCE tour, THIS LEFT FEELS RIGHT went from mere acoustic re-workings of Bon Jovi hits to an entirely restructured approach, aided by producer Patrick Leonard and turned around in a mere 23 days. The results are a dozen songs literally reborn as practically brand new compositions, thanks to the use of some unique arrangements. "Livin' On a Prayer" gets basted with ethereal keyboard washes by David Bryan, while Leonard's actress wife, Olivia d'Abo, hops aboard and turns the song into a heartfelt duet. Plugged-in anthem "Keep the Faith" gets a nice twist, as its hard-pounding tempo is cast aside in favor of a subtle and soulful delivery, while Tico Torres' time keeping and the band's overall approach to "Wanted Dead or Alive" make it sound like a LED ZEPPELIN III outtake. Richie Sambora's deft wielding of his acoustic guitar can't be praised enough, particularly on "You Give Love a Bad Name," where his sharp slide playing makes it sound like an offshoot of Eric Clapton's UNPLUGGED version of "Layla." THIS LEFT FEELS RIGHT ends up turning what could have been a straightforward moneymaking venture into something special.
Chronicles [Box] [3/28] *
"Chronicles [Long Box]" (03/28/2006) Heavy Metal Bon Jovi, MercuryThis triple-CD set features two bona-fide Bon Jovi classics as well as Jon Bon Jovi's 1990 solo album, BLAZE OF GLORY. The latter features guest appearances by Jeff Beck, Elton John, and Little Richard on a selection of Bon Jovi's songs inspired by the movie YOUNG GUNS II. The band's self-titled 1984 debut not only became a blueprint for its later multi-platinum releases, but a definitive work for an entire genre, while 1988's NEW JERSEY is Bon Jovi's pledge of allegiance to its home state, reeking of attitude, emotion, and the need to party.
