Not only has Yamaha made certain that all the pieces compliment each other cosmetically, they have also brought together components that are designed to work together as a team, complimenting each other acoustically as well. For example, Yamaha's exclusive YST technology causes the receiver to compensate for natural limitations in the speakers to produce greater audio accuracy. The Five-channel Speaker Package System included with the YHT-160 provides you with two front speakers, two surround speakers and a center channel speaker -- all attractively designed with a slim design and silver finish. Their compact size not only makes it easier to arrange your speakers, but also improves their imaging ability, adding even more realism to surround effects. The two front speakers, two surround (rear) speakers and the center channel speaker each use 2.5-inch full-range cones to deliver exceptional clarity and surprising power. These acoustic suspension design speakers are also magnetically shielded, so they can be placed on or near a video monitor without causing problems. The included subwoofer pumps 100 watts through an eight-inch multi-range driver using Yamaha's Advanced YST system to maximize performance so you can enjoy powerful, accurate bass response at any volume. Yamaha's patented Advanced Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) generates incredible bass from small speaker enclosures. Using advanced negative impedance converters, the receiver works with the subwoofer to intelligently adjust the negative impedance generation as the speaker moves. Yamaha's superb Quad-Field Cinema Digital Sound Field Processing, or DSP -- Yamaha's way of recreating the ambiance of a stadium, a concert hall or an intimate club in the comfort of your own home. You'll hear crisp, clear dialogue, perfectly located sound effects, and dynamic music with awe-inspiring bass. The YHT-160 also features Silent Cinema, Yamaha's exclusive technology that allows private listening enjoyment of multi-channel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, through ordinary headphones. Yamaha's exclusive LSI circuit performs Dolby Digital and DTS decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing. It is the central "brain" of this amazingly sophisticated sound system. Since Yamaha designs and uses their own ASIC style LSIs, these circuits are designed to perform specific tasks with incredible efficiency.
