Chucky: The Killer DVD Collection
Description:
This collection contains all the sequel chapters in the demonic doll saga. CHILD'S PLAY 2: Chucky is back! After the fire, the toy factory wants to dispel the bad publicity, but are they in for a surprise as Chucky is back on Andy's trail and this time he intends to win. CHILD'S PLAY 3: Chucky, the notorious killer is back to wreak more mayhem as he continues his quest to possess a child's body. BRIDE OF CHUCKY: Chucky returns, and this time he's got a girlfriend, Tiffany. Their way of having a good time is going on a murder-spree road trip, killing any and everything that gets in their way. Along for the ride are Jade and Jesse, a pair of teens on the run from their uncaring parents. As the body count rises, Jade and Jesse must deal with the consequences of their killer dolls. SEED OF CHUCKY: Everyone's favorite plastic slasher doll returns for a fifth installment of this popular horror series. Apparently Chucky and his equally murderous bride, Tiffany (voiced by Jennifer Tilly), had a child, which has grown up in a cage as part of a heavy-metal ventriloquist act in England.
Vincent Price: the House on Haunted Hill / the Bat (DVD)
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL: Vincent Price has one of his juiciest roles in this haunted-house thriller as millionaire playboy Frederick Loren, who invites five guests out to a genuine haunted house, offering them each $10,000 if they spend the night. Elisha Cook Jr. plays one of the guests, a nervous alcoholic who has been in this house before and witnessed some terrible things. Mr. Loren's beautiful but treacherous wife (Carol Ohmart) is also present--and might be out to kill Frederick during the course of the evening; then again, he might be out to kill her. Severed heads, a skeleton, an acid vat, ghostly screams, and a noose that creeps around on its own and strangles unsuspecting victims are just some of the treats in a film that has been spooking delighted audiences on late-night TV for decades. Producer-director William Castle (THE TINGLER) claimed this was filmed in a process called Emergo, which meant that at a key moment a glow-in-the-dark skeleton on a wire was rigged to sail over the audience's heads. The skeleton is long since gone, but the goofy thrills remain in this classic tale, from a script by Robb White. LAST MAN ON EARTH: Based on Richard Matheson's SF thriller I AM LEGEND, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH is about a man who survives a global plague only to be stalked nightly by zombielike victims who call out his name. Vincent Price stars as Robert Morgan, a scientist who tried desperately to come up with a cure for an airborne virus that was killing people around the globe. Although he could not develop a serum in time to save his family, he himself seems to be immune from the disease. Thus, he is left to wander the streets by day, staking zombies, then barricading himself in his house each night as the zombies try to break in and kill him. Price is excellent in the role, going about his horrible business as if it were just another day: waking up and eating breakfast, putting on a suit, calmly staking the zombies, making dinner, listening to records at night. But when he suddenly sees what looks like another living soul out in the daylight, his world is suddenly turned inside out. THE BAT: Based on the gothic novel by Mary Roberts Rinehart, this haunted-house mystery casts Agnes Moorehead as a mystery writer who has just moved into a spooky old mansion. It's former owner was recently killed, but not before hiding one million ill-gotten dollars somewhere in the house. Now, a nefarious killer known only as the "Bat" is trying to find the money, while bodies and mysteries accrue in this strange old house. Filmed before in 1915 (silent), 1926 (silent) and 1930 (talkie).

Cabin Fever - [DVD] - Used
Eli Roth makes an auspicious debut with CABIN FEVER. Taking an otherwise traditional set up for a horror film, Roth infuses it with enough energy and originality to make it feel completely fresh. Five friends, just finished with college finals, head for a cabin in the woods to party and embrace their newfound freedom. There's the cute but uptight Paul (Rider Strong), who yearns for pretty lifelong platonic friend Karen (Jordan Ladd); the attractive, but slightly stupid couple Jeff (Joey Kern) and Marcy (Cerina Vincent); and the brute jock, Bert (James DeBello). While shooting squirrels in the woods, Bert accidentally nicks a man, who appears to be suffering from a disgusting disease. Bert returns to the cabin, choosing not to share this information with the gang. But later that night, when the man knocks on their door, the beast is unleashed. Unlike most horror films which make the horror gruesomely visible, the evil in CABIN FEVER is invisible--and highly contagious. And when Karen begins to show signs of contamination, the bond between these close friends begins to unravel. Roth's blackly comic directorial debut shows clear influence from the early films of Sam Raimi (THE EVIL DEAD) and Peter Jackson (DEAD ALIVE).

House on Haunted Hill Film Collection
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL: Steven Price (a very hammy Geoffrey Rush) is a wealthy amusement-park owner who invites several strangers to his shrewish wife's birthday party, this year held in the abandoned Vannacutt Institute for the Mentally Insane. There, he offers a prize of one million dollars to each partygoer who can spend the entire night in the creepy and cavernous building. As Mr. and Mrs. Price play a bitter game of cat and mouse, the guests begin to think there are more ominous forces at work, especially after the body count begins to creep higher and higher. Famke Janssen, Taye Digs, and Ali Larter also star in this remake of the 1958 low-budgeter featuring Vincent Price. RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL: Sarah Wolfe, the only remaining survivor of the horrific Vanacutt Mansion massacre, has recently committed suicide--or so it seems. Now it's up to her sister to find out what's really going on in this gruesome, ghost-filled horror flick.
XTRO/XTRO 2
Harry Bromley Davenport's cultish take on the ALIEN theme is not for the squeamish, packing an impressive B-movie shock. Sam Phillips (Philip Sayer) is kidnapped by aliens while playing with his son; when he reappears three years later, he's not quite himself--with gory, splatter-filled results for his quiet British community. Maryam D'Abo, who went on to be a Bond girl in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987), distinguishes herself as an oversexed babysitter. In XTRO 2, Dr. Shepherd (Jan-Michael Vincent) is summoned to a top-secret facility where he is to help recover three scientists who have failed to return from another dimension. But the mission becomes a horrible nightmare when they unintentionally bring back an insatiably bloodthirsty alien.
House of Wax
André de Toth's remake of MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM is one of the first and best 3-D (stereoscopic) feature films, an alternative technology (like Cinemascope, Cinerama) used by 1950s directors attempting to compete with the new threat of television. Professor Jarrod (Vincent Price) is a devoted wax figure sculptor for his museum in 1910s NYC. When his financial partner, Sidney Wallace (Paul Cavanagh), demands more sensational exhibits to increase profits, Jarrod refuses. The vengeful Wallace torches the museum, leaving Jarrod for dead. Miraculously, Jarrod survives (though his hands and legs are rendered useless) and builds a new House of Wax with help from threatening deaf-mute sculptor, Igor (Charles Bronson). The museum's popular "Chamber of Horrors" showcases recent crimes like the murder of Wallace, a victim of a cloaked, disfigured killer along with his fiancée, Cathy (Carolyn Jones). When Cathy's friend, Sue (Phyllis Kirk), visits the museum she makes a discovery that leads to the horrifying truth behind the House of Wax. With gasp inducing (and tongue-in-cheek) 3-D scenes like the museum fire, paddleball man, and can-can girls, de Toth creates an atmospheric film which stands up as a horror classic in 2-D as well.
