The Quad Nx 56/64 module combines with other ATLAS components to provide solutions for a variety of wide area networking applications. Providing four synchronous V.35 DTE ports, the Quad Nx 56/64 module serves as the interface for high speed routers and other DTE equipment to access the wide area network. Each port of the Quad Nx 56/64 module can be configured through soft-ware to operate at any multiple of 56 K or 64 Kbps, up to 2.048 Mbps. Using the ATLAS Channel Mapping Utility, a port can be mapped to one or more DS0s of a T1 or T3 circuit, providing high performance connections to remote locations. For switched access applications, ATLAS can be configured to route calls between the Quad Nx 56/64 module and ISDN (Basic Rate or Primary Rate) circuits. As with all ATLAS components, configuration can be accomplished through a variety of mechanisms, including Telnet or VT 100 Emulation. SNMP management is supported for alarm and event reporting. The Quad Nx 56/64 module supports ...

The IMUX-56/64 Module combines multiple ISDN B-channels using the BONDING Mode 1 protocol to support high bandwidth ISDN applications such as dial backup of Frame Relay or dedicated circuits. The BONDING capacity of the module is 60 DS0s or ISDN B-channels, which can be allocated according to the user's needs. For example, an ATLAS system can be configured toCONNECT eight B-channels USING BONDING as a dial backup link to a remote 512 kbps ISDN device, such as the ISU 512. Similarly, the module might be configured to implement two sessions at 512 kbps, 1 at 384 kbps, and 6 at 128 kbps. Table 1 shows how many sessions can be supported at typical BONDING rates. The IMUX-56/64 Module has no external network or user interfaces. Network traffic is passed to it though other ATLAS modules such as the Octal BRI Module or the Quad T1/PRI Module. Similarly, traffic is passed to the user through modules such as the Quad Nx56/64 module. This partitioning allows the BONDING module to serve as a resource for multiple user devices. When combined with the ATLAS 800PLUS and Frame Relay software, the Nx56/64 IMUX module can offer high speed dial backup around the network in Frame Relay applications. This same capability can be applied to providing dial backup of failed dedicated circuits or other network connections. Other applications that may call for the IMUX-56/64 Module include image transfer and video-conferencing. The IMUX-56/64 Module is compatible with the ISDN dial backup options of ADTRAN's Express 5000 series products as well as the IQ family of frame monitoring CSU/DSUs. It is also compatible with ISDN access products such as ADTRAN's ISU 128 and ISU 512, as well as the ISDN dial backup options of the TSU family of T1 access devices.

The 2FXO module is one of several expansion modules for the TSU Multiplexer family. This module should be selected when a connection to one or two voice line cards of a key system or PBX is required. PBX extensions may be extended to a remote site by combining a TSU on the remote end with FXS modules. The module emulates the CO side of a DID (Direct Inward Dial) trunk when in DPT mode. The module provides standard 2FXO or DPT functionality to distances of 2400 feet. The module installs in the slot(s) of the TSU Multiplexer.

The Drop and Insert (D&I) Module provides a secondary T1 (1.544 Mbps) interface to telco or to private T1 facilities. By adding the D&I Module to a TSU Multiplexer, the user has the capability to support two independent T1s for data, voice, or video, eliminating the need for a second multiplexer. The module provides the capability to selectively insert and extract channels between the primary T1 interface on the TSU Multiplexer and the secondary T1 interface on the module. This allows for the connectivity of two remote sites through a central site. The module operates with either AMI/B8ZS coding or D4/ESF framing. For easy configuration, the D&I Module options are programmed using the front panel, a VT 100 terminal interface or the optional Windows-based T-Watch PRO software. The module can be configured remotely via the FDL (ESF circuits only) when attached to a local TSU multiplexer using T-Watch PRO. The TSU, TSU LT, TSU ESP, TSU 100, TSU 120, TSU 600 and TDU 120e are intelligent, full-featured T1 DSU/CSUs, designed to interface customer DTE to T1 or Fractional T1 services. These devices can be used to terminate the far end of the D&I T1 circuit. The Drop & Insert Module is one of many application-specific modules available for the TSU Multiplexer. The ability to combine different expansion modules with plug-on units provides a variety of interface port combinations for voice, data, dial backup and video applications.

The Quad Universal Synchronous Serial Interface (USSI) module combines with other ATLAS components to provide solutions for a variety of wide area networking applications. Providing four synchronous EIA-530, EIA-530A, X.21, (V.11), V.36, RS-449 or RS-232 DTE ports, the Quad USSI module serves as the interface for high-speed routers and other DTE equipment to access the wide area network. Each port of the Quad USSI module can be configured through software to operate at any multiple of 56 or 64 kbps, up to 2.048 Mbps.Using the ATLAS Channel Mapping Utility, a port can be mapped to one or more DS0s of a T1 or T3 circuit, providing high performance connections to remote locations. For switched access applications, ATLAS can be configured to route calls between the Quad USSI module and ISDN (Basic Rate or Primary Rate) circuits. As with all ATLAS components, configuration can be accomplished through a variety of mechanisms, including Telnet or VT 100 emulation. SNMP management is supported for alarm and event reporting. The Quad USSI module supports an 8, 000 bps in-band management channel to communicate with remote ADTRAN TSU devices. This channel is available full-time for sending management information between devices. The Quad USSI module includes an extensive array of diagnostic tools, to assist in identifying and correcting network problems. Included is a built-in Self-Test utility, as well as standards-based 511 test pattern generators and detectors for each of the four ports. Key interface signals from each of the four ports are monitored and displayed, providing real time status of network activity.

The ADTRAN Dual OCU DP Module is an expansion module for the TSU Multiplexer family. Designed to provide full OCU DP operation for office applications, the module can be used to extend 64k DDS, Switched 56 or Frame Relay circuits up to 18, 000 feet from the multiplexer. The Dual OCU DP expansion module and the Dual OCU DP Plug-On module now expand the capacity of the TSU multiplexer family to support four OCU DP interfaces per expansion slot. For CPE applications, the Dual OCU DP module allows network administrators to cut network access charges and continue to support traditional DDS/SW56 requirements. By re-using existing CPE products such as the DSU III AR, the Dual OCU DP module can extend two switched 56 circuits to a conference room to support video-conferencing. The module can also be used to extend a 56k Frame Relay circuit to FSU located in a computer room. The flexibility of the TSU Multiplexer family allows Dual OCU DP operation with any of the existing modules for voice, data or routing. The Dual OCU DP module is ideal for extending DSOs assigned over a service consolidating T1 circuit from a central access point. CLECs, LECs and IXCs can now use the TSU 600e Multiplexer to consolidate multiple clients' 56/64k-based services and maintain individual customer access. The TSU 600e, with the addition of the Dual OCU DP, can now support 24 individual OCU DP interfaces. The module is fully compliant with AT&T 62310 and 41458, allowing ease of integration and interoperability with existing OCU DP and end user CPE solutions. For testing and troubleshooting, the Dual OCU DP module contains many built-in test functions. Several test codes are supported, including channel, OCU and DSU loop-backs. Alternating and latching loop-backs are also embedded in the module. Additionally, the TSU Multiplexer family includes a full complement of test functions that allow testing of the OCU DP module, the T1 carrier and the multiplexer itself.
