Though the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA of the 1970s is primarily known as a kitschy cult favorite, this darker incarnation is beloved by critics and fans alike. The series follows the last surviving humans who are at war with their own robotic creation, the Cylons. The man-versus-machine concept may be a genre cliché, but the show brings intelligence and a healthy dose of social commentary to the table. After the season three finale revealed four of the "Final Five" Cylons, the fourth season finds the return of a friend they thought they'd lost: Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (Katee Sackoff). But will she lead the humans home to Earth or will she fulfill the Hybrid's doomsday prophecy? BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 4.0 also features the TV movie RAZOR, which bridges the third and fourth seasons of the series. The film follows Lee Adama's (Jamie Bamber) first experiences leading the battlestar Pegasus, but RAZOR also takes viewers back to the Pegasus commanded by Admiral Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION).

The popular 1970s sci-fi television show is updated and re-imagined in BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. It has been a generation since the Cylons, androids built by mankind to work and serve them, rebelled and disappeared into the cosmos. But now they have returned, bent on destroying the twelve worlds of their former masters. Commander William Adama (Edward James Olmos) manages to escape the destruction with a small portion of the human population on board the Battlestar Galactica, and now searches the far reaches of space for the lost colony of man known as Earth. Unfortunately, the Cylons are still in pursuit, determined to wipe out every trace of the human race. This mini-series of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA updates the original series with a darker tone, new CGI special effects, and by giving the Cylons the ability to mimic their prey, making them all the more dangerous. It shares with THE MATRIX and THE TERMINATOR series a vision of mankind undone by the very machines it created, and the continuing struggle between the mechanical and the organic that will determine the future.

The series follows the last surviving humans who are at war with their own robotic creation, the Cylons. The man-versus-machine concept may be a genre cliché, but the show brings intelligence and a healthy dose of social commentary to the table. After the game-changing finale of season two, the third season begins with the majority of the humans living on New Caprica, but they're under a Cylon occupation. President Baltar (James Callis) is a Cylon puppet, and Starbuck (Katee Sackoff) is held captive by Leoben (Callum Keith Rennie). But an insurgency led by Col. Tigh (Michael Hogan), Anders (Michael Trucco), and Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) keeps hope alive for the humans as they struggle to survive under Cylon rule. From this startling beginning to the shocking revelations of the third season finale, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA continues its Peabody Award-winning tradition of challenging viewers with its lack of clear-cut heroes or villains. Edward James Olmos stars as the head of the fleet, while Mary McDonnell plays the former president. This release includes the third season in its entirety.

Those craving an extra dose of the gritty and smart sci-fi of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will be pleased by this TV movie addition to the show's canon. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: RAZOR prepares the audience for the fourth season of the series, showing Lee Adama's (Jamie Bamber) first experiences leading the battlestar Pegasus. But RAZOR also takes viewers back to the Pegasus commanded by Admiral Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION). In her three-episode stint, Cain quickly became one of the Peabody-award-winning show's most hated villains--and best characters--thanks to her brutal brand of leadership. Here Cain takes Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Chaves-Jacobson) under her wing just as the Cylons are beginning their genocidal attack against humanity. Later as Lee Adama's XO, Shaw must step up to her new role as she faces the demons of her past. RAZOR also reveals more about the origins of the newest brand of Cylons. This unrated version expands on the TV broadcast, giving fans even more of one of the best shows on television.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA balances its striking special effects with character-driven drama and social commentary to create a show that's both entertaining and relevant. This critical favorite from Ronald D. Moore (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION) re-imagines the cult series from the 1970s with a new cast and more impressive villains. It also eschews the sunny outlook of STAR TREK in favor of a darker vision of space and humanity as it comments on issues such as terrorism and civil liberties. Androids called Cylons have massacred billions of people, leaving only a small group of survivors. Led by Oscar nominees Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, the human fleet searches for a mythical planet called Earth as they evade the Cylons. This two-pack includes every episode of the second season, including the shocking finale. The second season features guest appearances from genre favorites Lucy Lawless (XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS) and Michelle Forbes (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION).

After its initial cancellation, fan outcry led to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA being restored to TV screens--albeit in revamped form. Set 30 years after the original series, GALACTICA 1980 finds the star cruiser of the title finally reaching the glimmering oasis of Earth. Unfortunately, they've also led their dreaded enemies, the robotic Cyclons, to the planet. In order to prepare 1980s-era earthlings for intergalactic battle and save the human race from destruction, Captain Troy (Kent McCord) and Lieutenant Dillon (Barry Van Dyke) are sent down to meet with the planet's scientists and jump-start their primitive technology. Along the way, they get in some interesting culture clashes with bikers, police, and an intrepid TV anchor (Robyn Douglass). Though the premise is altered, the series is still full of the laser battles and deep-space sequences that made the original so popular with legions of fans. This collection presents all 10 episode of the series, completing the classic sci-fi saga.
