KLH's TW-09B is a bookshelf speaker (sold by the pair) with a somewhat unusual "twistable" design. The tweeter resides in its own cabinet atop the woofer. The two casings are attached in such a way that the tweeter housing can be swiveled left or right. This design is advantageous because it allows you to customize the directivity of high-frequency sounds (from the tweeter), which are more directional than bass info (from the woofer). The two-way TW-09B packs a 3.63-inch fiber cone woofer and a 0.63-inch dome tweeter. The suggested amplifier power is 5 to 100 watts. The TW-09B is magnetically shielded, so you can stick it beside your TV without causing picture interference. KLH provides plastic mounting brackets and wire. The KLH 943PL center-channel speaker is designed for use in a home theater system. It incorporates a D'Appolito design, meaning that the sealed plastic cabinet houses a tweeter and a midrange driver in the center, flanked on either side by a woofer. This center speaker should be mounted horizontally atop or below your television. Each of the 943PL's woofers measures 3.63 inches in diameter and uses fiber cones. The polycarbonate midrange driver is one inch in diameter, while the piezoelectric tweeter has a diameter of 0.63 inches. The rated frequency response of 100 Hz to 20 kHz is similar to that of many center speakers. The sensitivity rating of 86 dB is a little low, but any amplifier capable of delivering 50 watts or more should be able to drive the 943PL to acceptable volume levels. Wire-clip terminals, instead of the more desirable five-way binding posts, are used to connect the speaker to your receiver or amplifier. The 943PL does have magnetic shielding, though, allowing you to place it right on top of your TV without causing picture distortion. 911B bookshelf speakers and BB-II powered subwoofer to go with this center.
