Although the TXJ3678 is the top model in Samsung's 1999 line of 36-inch TVs for the year 2000, it would be a lower-end model in some other manufacturers' catalogs. Its key features are an analog comb filter, single-tuner picture-in-picture (PIP), and a set of A/V inputs on the front panel.There are also two sets of A/V inputs (with S-video) on the rear panel. If the 10-watt-per-channel stereo amplifier isn't robust enough for you, you can use the variable audio outputs to hook this set up to your stereo system. The TXJ3678 receives MTS/SAP broadcasts. Plug in a pair of headphones to the dedicated input to watch TV without waking the neighbors. Couch potatoes will enjoy the universal remote control, which operates the TV as well as most VCRs and cable boxes. The channel labeling function allows you to name each channel; you could, for instance, label the stations according to their call letters. The single-tuner picture-in-picture lets you keep track of two channels at once, though you'll have to rely on the tuner in your VCR. The analog comb filter won't match the performance of the digital comb filters found in many 36-inch sets.
